Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I ACCESS THE FREE TRAINING?

You can access the FREE training via a subscribing organisation. For example, if you are a food handler, check if your local council is a subscribing organisation. If your local council is a subscribing organisation, contact them and they will provide you with information on how to best access the FREE training. If your local council is not a subscribing organisation, encourage them to subscribe so that each of the food businesses in that particular local council area (including yours) can access the training for FREE via the local councils website. Alternatively, your organisation can subscribe directly to the training.

This will depend on the training program you select and the sections you choose to complete. The training programs have been developed using animation to minimise the download of data.

IS THE PROGRAM EASY TO USE?

Yes. The program is designed so that even people with only the most basic computer skills can easily navigate their way through the program.

IS THE TRAINING ACCREDITED?

No. Training that is accredited and recognised nationally can only be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

As often as required. Training should be conducted as part of the induction process for new employees (or employees changing roles) and conducted on a regular basis as part of their ongoing employment.

The ALERT character was designed in accordance with best practice principles. The ALERT character does not portray a specific gender, age, nationality or religion.

WHY IS THERE A TRANSITION (BEAMING IN AND BEAMING OUT OF ALERT CHARACTER) BETWEEN SECTIONS?

The training program has been developed according to best practice principles and in accordance with the national framework for online learning. A particular requirement of this framework requires the user to be given the opportunity to absorb information between sections (absorb, relax and retain). To achieve this, and to introduce each section, we included the "beaming in/out" effect.

WHY HAS MY CERTIFICATE PRINTED OUT WITH "SAMPLE" ACROSS IT?

The version of the training program on the I'M ALERT website is for demonstration purposes only. The demonstration version is the full training program except that it has "SAMPLE" over all screens and printouts. You can access the FREE training (no "SAMPLE" badging) via a subscribing organisation. For example, if you are a food handler, check if your local council is a subscribing organisation. If your local council is a subscribing organisation, contact them and they will provide you with information on how to best access the FREE training. If your local council is not a subscribing organisation, encourage them to subscribe so that each of the food businesses in that particular local area (including yours) can access the training for FREE via the local councils website. Alternatively, your organisation can subscribe to the training directly.

THE PROGRAM/SCREEN HAS FROZEN. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The most likely cause of this is an interruption to your internet service. Check you still have an internet connection. Close all of your browser windows (eg. Internet Explorer) and tabs (if applicable) and then ensure your "cache" is cleared (How to Clear Your Cache: Whilst pressing and holding the "Left Shift" button, press the refresh button in your browser). Unfortunately the system will not remember any of the settings or sections you have completed. It is recommend to conduct the training programs on a computer with a reliable internet connection (i.e. A connection that does not "drop out").

WHY HAS THE TRAINING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM GOT AN "N/A" IN THE "ASSESSMENT COMPLETED" COLUMN?

The "N/A" that appears in the "Assessment completed" column represents "Not Applicable" (ie. there was no assessment to complete as part of that section).

WHY HAS THE TRAINING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM THAT I PRINTED GOT AN "X" FOR SOME SECTIONS?

  • The "X" indicates that a particular section and/or quiz was not selected, viewed and/or completed.
  • The "X" will also indicate that a user has skipped through a section and/or quiz without completing it.

MY TRAINING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM/CERTIFICATE IS LOST. IS THERE A WAY I CAN SOURCE ANOTHER COPY?

Unfortunately, there is no way of recovering your documents. Should you complete the training again, you have the option to "save" the documents, "print" the documents and/or "email" the documents.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE TRAINING PROGRAM?

CAN I COMPLETE SOME SECTIONS AND RETURN LATER?

The program has been designed to complete in one session. If you wish to receive the training acknowledgement form and the certificate, you will need to select all sections, view all sections and complete all the quizzes in one session (training time varies upon which training program you complete). Alternatively you can select a few of the sections, view the selected sections, complete the quizzes for the selected sections and receive the training acknowledgement form only (not the certificate) indicating the sections you just completed. You can then enter the site again later and select sections you have not viewed and complete them and print another training acknowledgement form. (Please Note: The system will not remember any of the settings or sections you completed in the previous session)
